Start of CSA Season!

April 18, 2017 By Megan Allen

We will start distributing CSA shares this week.  This week’s share will be smaller, as we are waiting on a few veggies.  More seasonable weather and rain will help bring them along…last week was much too hot for spring crops.  T/W shares will receive bok choy, carrots, spinach, kale (choice of red or green curly), and sweet potatoes.  We may have a few more items by Saturday (baby arugula, radishes), just depends on how much rain we receive.
We had a really thorough and encouraging meeting yesterday with an irrigation specialist, and I am excited about the possibilities for our underground irrigation system.  I still think it will be at least the end of this season, if not next season before it is functioning, but it seems like it will be great for us and for our farm ecosystem once finished.
Remember to check out our blog for recipe ideas for this week’s veggies (or just ask at pick up).

“The care of the Earth is our most ancient and most worthy, and after all most pleasing responsibility. To cherish what remains of it and to foster its renewal is
our only hope.”
