This week’s shares are literally overflowing…we didn’t come close to fitting all of the produce in the bins today. Some things we had to harvest because of the heat (Napa cabbage, Romaine lettuce, carrots), but mostly it is just the height of “spring” veggie season. Wednesday shares will include: carrots, scallions, garlic scapes, radishes (red), spring turnips with greens (white), baby beets with greens, fennel, kale, broccoli with greens (enjoy the greens! they really are great!), sugar snap peas, Romaine lettuce, leaf lettuce (the Australian Yellow lettuce is huge this season…see pic below…that’s my foot!), Napa cabbage, choice of arugula or mesclun mix, and choice of herb. Sustaining Members will also receive strawberries (dwindling…although finally hot and dry enough for them to keep longer!), snow peas, and an extra green. By Friday, I expect the patty pan summer squash to also be ready (see picture below).
Although we are still harvesting 2016-2017 winter shares, most of our work now is focused on planning for the 2017 CSA season and preparing fields for next season’s growing. Our regular season shares will start back in mid-April. We do have CSA shares available for the 2017 season. We do not yet have our application available on our website (although we hope to in January), but you may sign up for a 2017 CSA share by emailing us at email@example.com. Have a wonderful holiday season!
