Weekly Share for July 22, 2015

July 23, 2015 By admin

This week’s share will be similar to last week’s, except no melons and lettuce (we are in between successions…a reflection of the odd weather pattern we had several weeks ago…may have both again by next week): onions, garlic, carrots (will probably stop picking after next week…quality goes down with high heat and we need to cover crop the area where they are), okra, green beans!!! (if you want extras, let me know), cranberry beans, sweet pepper, hot pepper (jalapenos aren’t actually that hot yet…), tomatoes (may have extras for sale by the end of this week), sweet corn, summer squash/zucchini, cucumbers, and choice of herb.

Lots going on at the farm right now. Besides daily picking, we have started planting our fall crops and are cover cropping areas from spring. All the animals are doing really well on cover crop from spring (“pasture”). They will all move next week, as we try to move them at the beginning and middle of each month.

“The care of the Earth is our most ancient and most worthy, and after all most pleasing responsibility. To cherish what remains of it and to foster its renewal is
our only hope.”
